The importance of qualifications
The UK market for project and programme management roles is becoming more buoyant as the country emerges from the recession.
Many organisations that had put internal investment on hold over the last two years have acquired the necessary board approval and are instigating stand-alone projects and more significant business transformation programmes. There has been a lessening in the market place for contract resources as there is pressure from many executives to staff projects internally. However, many organisations have found that they do not have the necessary internal skills to deliver significant changes and maintain essential levels of business as usual activity.
Where organisations are hiring, they are becoming more specific about the skills and experience that they seek. The recruitment process is expensive for the client, so they are looking to fill their positions with the right candidate first time, and will only interview those who offer the lowest risk.
