The briefing provides an overview of the PRINCE2™ method from the Senior Management perspective. Therefore, emphasis is given to the need for Project Board commitment to the project, throughout its lifecycle. This is supported by details of the individual responsibilities for each Project Board member and their interaction with the Project Manager. In addition, the key controls that they can exercise to ensure the project stays on track will be explained and the benefits discussed. Issues relating to the implementation and use of PRINCE2™ in the organization will be explored

Introduction
· Overview of the PRINCE2™ method, key concepts and terms
Project lifecycle
· An overview of the Project Lifecycle using the PRINCE2™ Process Model
· Identification of control points and the involvement of the Project Board at each point
Project Structure
· Overview of the organisation structure and the key responsibilities for each Project Board roles, including Project Assurance
Business Case, PID and Plans
· Explain the importance of the Business Case, covering its contents and use, and its links to the PID and Plans
Directing a Project and Controls, End Stage Assessments
· Explanation of the key process for the Project Board of “Directing a Project” and how they link with concept of “Management by Exception” and controlling the project via Stages and Tolerances
· Consider what questions the Project Board should be asking in End Stage Assessment
Implementing PRINCE2™
· Addressing the challenges that organisation need to address when using PRINCE2™
· Identifying potential organisational benefits of using PRINCE2™
Workshop Activities
· Based upon a topical project scenario, the Delegates will apply PRINCE2™ through a number of activities, including
· Appointing the Project Board
· Creating a Business Case
· Setting Project Tolerances
· Consider the key questions to be asked at an End Stage Assessment
The Delegates will also be given the opportunity to explore the issues relating
· Implementing and using PRINCE2™ in the organisation and realising the benefits of using PRINCE2™
