Exception Report

A PRINCE2™ Exception Report is produced when an approved PRINCE2™ Stage Plan is forecast to go out of agreed tolerance for that Stage. The Project Manager must produce the report as soon as he/she discovers the situation.

This is the main communication between the Project Board and the Project Manager when an exception occurs. It is important that the PRINCE2™ Exception Report is short and sharp and covers the essential points. Speed is of the essence in the exception situation. The Project Board should be provided with information on what has occurred and what options there are to resolve the problems.
