This course provides Delegates with a broad introduction to the concepts of Leadership and Team Development. The course is aimed at those that are entering their first Leadership/Supervisory Role, or those that wish to brush up on their skills. The course will examine how teams are formed and the Leadership Role that the Team Manager must perform, including Leadership through Team Formation, Delivery of Objectives and Changes to Team Membership.

· Understand the different types of team and their characteristics
· Identify the differences between Leadership and Management
· Understand a range of Leadership styles and provide Delegates with a personal assessment of their preferred Leadership Style
· Create a range of Practical Leadership Activities for Team Managers

Understanding Different Types of Team
· Overview of the Purpose, Position in the Organisational Hierarchy and Membership of different team types
· Examine the characteristics of effective teams
Leadership and Management
· Clarifying the role of Team Leader
· Examining the differences between Leadership and Management
Leading a Team During Team Formation
· Establishing roles and responsibilities and a management structure within the team
· Setting a clear direction for the team
Leading a Team Once The Team Is Established
· Create the ability to recognise and manage the different personalities of the team members
· Create an environment of respect and cooperation
Leadership Styles
· Review a range of Leadership Styles
· Assessment of preferred Leadership Style for each Delegate
- Identification of how different Leadership Styles impact on team members |
