CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) is a category of technical certifications offered by Cisco for early-career networking professionals. The CCNA is the second level of accreditation, one step above Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) and directly below the CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional). Cisco offers five Cisco Career Certification programs and levels of accreditation: Entry, Associate, Professional, Expert and Architect.

CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) is an information technology (IT) certification from Cisco. CCNA certification is an associate-level Cisco Career certification.

Cisco announced an update to its certification program that "aligns certification and training curricula with evolving industry job roles. There are now several different types of Cisco-Certified Network Associate, with "CCNA Routing and Switching" being closest to the original CCNA focus; other types of CCNA focus on security, cloud, collaboration, security operations, design, data centre technologies, industrial plants, service providers, and wireless.

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Routeing and Switching is a certification program for entry-level network engineers that helps maximise your investment in foundational networking knowledge. Imagine having the necessary skill and knowledge to fix a configuration problem not solved by an outsourced worker.

The ROUTE section will allow you to understand the fundamentals of routing and the importance of routing protocols. That old and outdated routing protocol RIPv2 you’re using to connect the Johannesburg and Cape Town branches, can now officially be replaced by EIGRP; Cisco’s proprietary protocol optimised for faster communication. There’s also OSPF as an additional option for configuration and implementation. Having desktop clients all using resources from the server room is simplified with using switches, which you’ll learn of in the SWITCH section.

Learning about VTP and STP to assist in preventing switching loops in the network is every network technicians dream tool to have, and this course can give him this edge above his peers. Don’t forget about the old and trustworthy Frame-Relay technology which most telecoms companies still use for long distance communications, a very sought after skill in all countries.
